Can Yoga Asana practice help build bones? Can those with osteoporosis or osteopenia be helped? Dr. Loren Fishman in NYC has collected 90,000 hours of research on this topic. The results are encouraging. He studied a somewhat small number of people with osteoporosis and osteopenia over several years. Most of these people improved their DEXA scan scores or at least maintained the bone density they had and nobody suffered any broken bones during the 10+ years of the study.
